interview with Jodifit Member of the Month 2019, Rachele Pace
Q: What brought you to jodifit?
A: I was about 4 months postpartum and just feeling super down and not good about myself. Despite the fact that I just gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl, my body just was different and I didn’t feel like myself. I’ve never been very good at self motivating, so I mentioned something to my husband who just so happened to have done the floors at the new JodiFit. He made a call to Jodi on my behalf and the rest is history!
Q: What are your goals?
A: My goals were to lose the remainder of my baby weight and then some. I was heavier than I should have been when I got pregnant, so it was super important to me to also work hard to lose that. Beyond losing weight, I just wanted to be healthier and have better body image. Now having a daughter, it’s so important to me to teach her to be healthy and love herself. I was tired of being in these self sabotaging phases and I wanted to love me again and feel more confident.
Q: How’s it going?
A: So far it’s been amazing! I had a rough start. I thought I knew how to eat properly and when I began this journey I was still breastfeeding. I was consistently losing pounds and inches, it was just happening slower than I had anticipated. Once I stopped breastfeeding and tried the Isagenix cleanse and incorporated more classes into my schedule is when other people really started to notice. To date, 6 months in, 20lbs down and I believe somewhere around 27inches! I feel stronger, happier and more confident. I’m not at my goal just yet, but I think I now have the tools and the discipline to get me there!
Q: Have your changed your nutrition? How do you feel? What have you learned?
A: Absolutely! It took me a good two months in to finally grasp the nutrition portion. I thought I knew what I was doing but my body would tell me otherwise. Jodi really helped me to learn more about what my body needed and helped to introduce me to helpful ways to keep me sustained with out the effort. The isagenix shakes and cleanse have really helped me get my eating under control. The shakes make my life so much easier especially with a baby. Breakfast was a hard meal for me and I would often just skip it. The cleanse helps me to detox my body and also helps me to curb my appetite. It’s contributed a good 10lbs to my total weight loss that I have kept off!
Q: How has the one on one personal training/coaching with Jodi helped you?
A: Let me count the ways! My sessions with Jodi are 100% what has kept me so motivated and successful thus far. I’ll never forget the first time we met and in our discussion I ended up crying. She asked me who I was doing this for, and I said myself but also my daughter and my husband. When you don’t feel good about yourself it’s a super emotional thing. I feel that over the past 6 months I have gained a trainer, a therapist and a friend. I know that my goals are just as important to her as they are to me. She holds me accountable and also cheers me on! Beginning my journey with JodiFit is perhaps the best thing I could have done for myself.
Q: Whats your favorite part about coming to Jodifit?
A: I love the energy, the motivating yet comfortable atmosphere and of course all of the strong wonderful ladies that I get to work out with! It’s truly such an amazing community!
Q: Do you come to classes?
A: Yes I Do! Right now I try to come to 3-4 classes a week on top of my sessions with Jodi.
Q: Favorite class?
A: Right now I’m obsessed with barre and Bike n Barre. CXWorks is also a great class that I’ve incorporated into my weekly schedule.
Q: How important are your fitness, health and wellness goals? Why?
A: They are very important to me. Just coming off having a baby and now wanting to be the best mom and wife I can, being healthy and setting a good example is everything! I think I’ve finally trained myself to not look at this as a fitness phase to reach a goal, but more so a lifestyle change. I need to continually and consistently live my life this way or I will find myself right back where I started.
Q: How do you feel now?
A: I feel amazing and still very motivated. Like I said, I haven’t reached my goal yet and I have my eye on that prize!
Q: How old are you?
A: I am 34 about to turn 35
Q: What would you say to women your age who don’t workout/ lift weights/ eat healthy?
A: I’d ask why? What’s holding you back? I held myself back for years and I’m so happy I took the big step forward. Without our health we have nothing, so why not invest in it, and invest in ourselves.
Q: Who is your biggest cheerleader? Why?
A: I’m very lucky to have an amazing support team, a loving husband, family and friends.
Q: How have you found a balance between life, having a new baby and taking time for you and your husband?
A: I say everyday I don’t know what I would do without my mother. She watches my daughter which allows me to have my time to workout. The time I spend at JodiFit is my “me time”, and beyond that it’s time I’m spending to better myself and in turn it will help me be a better wife and mother. Balance is always hard and it’s something I work on everyday. We’re only 10 months in with our daughter but so far I think we’ve done pretty well!
Q: What do you say to yourself when you don’t feel like working out? Eat a pizza? Lol
A: One thing I try to be with myself is gentle, Especially since having my daughter. I’ve always been my biggest critic, so I try to be kind to myself. Rest is also super important so if I really don’t feel up to it I’ll take a rest day.
